In terms of price-to-quality ratio, garnet surpasses many abrasives. It is extracted by crushing natural minerals of the garnet group, so it is environmentally safe. The high hardness of this abrasive allows it to be reused for work. Due to the good performance, sandblasting with pomegranate sand is used in many industries and economic activities.
To indicate the granularity of sand, the mesh unit of measurement is used. It means the size of the fraction prevailing in the total mass. Garnet of the 20/40 mesh fraction is well suited for cleaning metal surfaces from rust and oxide, removing paint and sandblasting. To remove burrs from cast parts, when polishing stainless steel and engraving glass, a fraction of 30/60 mesh is used.
